A rumble seat is an extra open-air seat located at the rear of a car. It was a popular feature in some cars from the 1920s to the late 1930s. The seat was often located behind the main seats and faced backward, providing additional seating for passengers. Rumble seats were mainly found in two-door cars, such as roadsters and coupes. They were typically accessed through a lift-up lid in the trunk area. Rumble seats fell out of fashion as car designers focused on making vehicles more practical and safer. Today, rumble seats are considered a nostalgic feature and are only found in vintage cars.
